TERRIBLE THINGS

As the world watches and the West does little or nothing, millions of Catholics and others run for their lives before the advancing terrorist army known as ISIS.  Those dear brothers and sisters who can not escape but would not renounce the Lord face horrors ranging from beheading to crucifixion and rape and the torture and murder of their babies and children!  These terrible things are but the latest in a mushrooming plague of religious persecution across the globe.

As we live in safety, (for a time…) we must remember our PERSECUTED BROTHERS AND SISTERS- THE TORTURED, THE MURDERED AND THE MARTYRED.

The U.S. State Department has said,”the world is witnessing the largest displacement of religious communities, (mostly Christian,) in recent memory.”  “In almost every corner of the globe, millions of Christians and others representing a range of faiths were forced from their homes on account of their religious beliefs… Communities are disappearing from their traditional and historic homes and dispersing across the geographic map.  In conflict zones, in particular, this mass displacement has become a pernicious norm.”

Most particularly, Catholics are being tortured and martyred en mass in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and other countries.  Most Catholic priests are stoned to death of crucified.  WHY DO WE NOT SEE THESE THINGS ON THE EVENING NEWS?!  Even the Jewish rights organization  B’nai B’rith, has said in the past that Christians are the most persecuted religion on the earth.  Jews rightly protect and advocate for their own, but Christians do not!  Those who sit in power in the Church are even afraid of naming the countries in which this persecution takes place!

The adoption and practice of courting the favor and spirit of the world is not of God.  We must always raise the Cross and condemn the spirit of this world, not seek the favor of those who hate Christ.  This we know from Holy Writ and history:  If the world loves you and applauds you, you are not doing the work of Christ.  “For if you find that the world hates you, know it has hated ME before you.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as it’s own.  But you belong in ME, as I do in you…”

Always, always stand for freedom and truth and talk of the tortured, the murdered and the martyred!, and PREPARE- “For when they say peace and safety, then SUDDEN DESTRUCTION WILL COME UPON THEM!”

All people of goodwill should pray daily for the tortured.
